Biography

Andrew Appello, is a holistic practitioner and practicing clinical herbalist. He is a licensed acupuncturist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Andrew Appello is a practicing clinical herbalist and acupuncturist whose commitment to natural therapies and traditional Asian healing modalities began in his youth with his pursuit of the martial arts. His masters were teachers who kept the ancient practice of combining traditional healing modalities with the various martial arts forms. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Rider University, Andrew turned his focus to his lifelong commitment to the study of the martial arts and their accompanying ancient healing disciplines. He pursued formal training of these therapies at highly regarded American schools, and apprenticed with leaders in the fields of acupuncture and herbal therapeutics.

Andrew Appello received a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine, covering both internal and external medicine, from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture in Manhattan. Here, he studied three styles of acupuncture:

and two forms of herbal healing:

He enhanced this training by graduating from David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies in Washington, New Jersey. Here, he completed the two-year intense herbalist training program and a one-year graduate course. These programs encompassed Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic herbal medicine, Cherokee herbal medicine, physio-medicalism, Thompsonian herbal medicine, Medicine of the Eclectics, Unani-Tibb (an Arabic modality) and Western European Herbal medicine. He now holds the position of instructor of Chinese medicine at the school.

He also studied Japanese Shiatsu with Nigel Dawes and apprenticed with master Indian healer Krisna Naicker in ayurvedic reflexology and herbal therapy.

As an acupuncturist and healing professional, Andrew Appello views each patient as a dynamic, holistic individual. His knowledge and practice of several different styles of acupuncture, including Japanese (Kiiko Matsumoto) style, Acupuncture Physical Medicine (a musculoskeletal form of acupuncture involving trigger point release), Traditional/Classical Chinese Medicine, and Die Da (martial arts trauma medicine), allows him to customize the optimal treatment to suit the patient’s condition and need. His practice specialties include pain management, sports therapy, women’s health and acupuncture facial rejuvenation. He takes a clinical approach to healing with natural, effective modalities and a holistic health and life-style approach to restoring balance and optimum health to the patient. His extensive and committed healing practice is complemented by his on-going training and teaching of the martial arts, yoga, meditation and master-level Usui Reiki. Besides earning a black belt in Korean Tae Kwon Do, he has also studied the Yang style of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yin Fu Bagua Zhang, Shao Lin Long Fist and other styles.
